With the border security crisis in the spotlight, the President finally responded with a request for almost $4 billion in additional funding to help stabilize the situation.
Let me be clear, the president can request whatever he wants, but if we don't include strict reforms that increase the security at our borders and if we don't rewrite the provision that prevents the administration from beginning the deportation process for these children then it is not going to pass Congress.
This is a crisis of the President's own making. Congress will not give him a blank check to fix it. There can be no amnesty, we must enforce the laws already on the books and we must stop the practice of throwing money at border security while not actually securing the border.
I will continue to stand firm on this issue, and I appreciate the messages and emails of support for my stance.
