The Arkansas Rice Federation announced on Wednesday that the state's rice industry would donate 117,000 pounds of rice, which equates to more than 1 million servings for hungry families, to the Arkansas Food Bank in honor of National Rice Month.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson will proclaim that October is Rice Month at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Governor’s Conference Room at the State Capitol in Little Rock.
