As the son of a career Air Force man, I have seen first-hand the many sacrifices our veterans and their families make to serve our nation.Any issue related to the treatment and care of our veterans always carries more passion for me than others. As the son of a career Air Force veteran, I have seen first-hand the many sacrifices our veterans and their families make to serve our nation. That’s why I was especially pleased to read the announcement from the Department of Veterans Affairs awarding approximately $300 million more in grants under the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program. Two Arkansas based programs were included in this announcement: St. Francis House (Little Rock) and Seven Hills Homeless Center (Northwest Arkansas). These grants will directly help thousands of very low-income veteran families around the nation who are permanently housed or transitioning to permanent housing.
I am proud of the work I have done to help our veterans, and will continue to be their strong advocate in the US Senate. I’ve introduced key pieces of legislation and have worked with Senate Leadership to help veterans every chance I get. Some of these important accomplishments are highlighted below:
