One of the international personalities who sent a message of solidarity to the event was U.S. Senator John Boozman, an active member of the Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus. He stressed the importance of showing support for the Iranian people’s efforts to bring change and democracy to their country.

He said that the rise in human rights violations and the attacks on Camp Liberty had “disturbed” him. He was referring to the camp which houses members of the main Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK).

He pledged the U.S.’s support for the Iranian people who want a democratic government and cited the U.S.’s commitment to democracy, human rights, civil liberties, and the rule of law.

The Republican Senator from Arkansas said:  “I also remain committed to preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapons program. Yours is a noble cause and it is very important that we continue the dialogue on this matter.”
